The State Political Leaders Fellowships is designed for the most promising up-and-coming leaders in each state.

From community activists and lifelong volunteers to elected officials and organizational directors, each class of 40-50 Fellows includes individuals who are committed and passionate about progressive change.

For the 2009 Political Leaders Fellowships in Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, CPL is looking for leaders who are interested in becoming leaders in the following sectors:

  • Grassroots or Local Non-Profits
  • High Impact Volunteers and Activists
  • Government or Elected Office
  • Statewide or National Non-Profits
  • Faith-Based Organizations
  • Unions

We will be seeking individuals with a variety of backgounds who have displayed the following characteristics/attributes:

  • Community or political experience as a paid worker or volunteer
  • Commitment to personal leadership development and professional growth
  • Enthusiasm and openness to learning from and developing leadership in others
  • Clear vision for the progressive change they want to create in their community or cause of interest
  • Considered an emerging progressive leader by the community, cause or organization that they represent
  • Strong commitment to both progressive values and causes/issues

The Center for Progressive Leadership targets leaders from communities that have traditionally lacked access to political power – including, but not limited to, people of color, women, and the GLBTQ community.

If you know someone who matches the characteristics above, you can nominate them today for the program. Or you can apply yourself.
