Carlos Cartagena

Manager of Community Initiatives for NPower Pennsylvania

 

"I would like to be part of a 'participatory process' where policy is made based on the feedback of the community and residents. This is where democracy really can have an impact on policy change."


Currently, Carlos works for NPower Pennsylvania, an organizational capacity building organization. NPower PA is a technology non-profit associated with the national NPower organizations with 10 affiliates across the nation. He holds a Masters Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Community and Policy, and a specialization in Health/Mental Health from Temple University's School of Social Administration. He received his Bachelor's from Temple University with a degree in Social Work. He has also supported and campaigned for a candidate for state representative in the past.

Carlos has worked in the community both professionaly and as a volunteer for a combined 15 years. He has worked on multicultural committees providing services such as community organizing and direct services. He has also worked primarily with Latino adults and adolescents. He is committed to working in the Philadelphia Latino community around issues of equal access to a good education, access to equal economic opportunities, and access to health care.
